World Tribal Home is a program being designed to encourage and help develop Orphanages in Africa and other countries. We would like to create a style of home that eventually becomes self-sufficient. The methods used to attain this will follow the processes of perma- culture and developing the land to its greatest potential. World Tribal Home will also market any products that may be developed in an effort to support and reward the efforts of not only the orphanage but also the individual.

Each orphanage should operate similar to the Eco-Village model that many would recognize as an Intentional Community. We believe that the children that are facing such absolute devastation of their homeland and personal lives will be capable of incredible efforts to help build and develop their home and create a future for themselves and others. We hope to find land that is suitable and then, by using a tent system, gather the children that will live there to aid in the building of their own home. The tent system will then be moved to another location to develop another World Tribal Home.

The children will then start developing the land with the supervision of trained elders to become as productive as possible. The second most important aspect of each home is education, geared to help each child prepare for its future. A program will be developed for each child.

All of these programs will be designed to help preserve the culture art and music of each country. These are all aspects of their lives that are certainly threatened. After studying the problem in sub-Saharan Africa. We are convinced that the only way that these children are going to survive is to band together in groups. We are also convinced that by helping them form into productive programs we will help the African Continent avoid the potential for roving bands of desperate dangerous children that could end up being as devastating as any disaster Africa has ever seen.

We are now in the earliest stages of developing our organization. Creating the board of directors, the non-profit status, studying the scope of the problems to come up with solutions that are viable. The greatest problem of course is to create a funding program that will allow this project to succeed. Our first effort will be to find an accomplished grant writer to help us in the beginnings of World Tribal Homes efforts. Our future funding goals are to develop products to put on the market and to market products produced by the orphanages themselves.

The above message applies to orphans and orphan families that have no family to go to.

It has recently been brought to our attention that possibly the most pressing and desperately needed help is with the Grandmas and Grandpas in the rural regions that have inherited large groups of grand children. Their parents became ill or died of aids related illnesses. These groups of children, sometimes 10 to 20 of them, came with nothing but depression, hunger and hopelessness. They have had to abandon their education and dreams of a better future. This accounts for a large proportion of the orphan population. Most are getting only one meal a day. Some get a meal, every two or three days. This is a very fast expanding number. Reports from Zimbabwe predict a famine by the end 2001.

I'm going to Zimbabwe and Zambia in September to determine what can be done by our organization to help support these grandparents and to help feed, clothe and educate these children. To prepare them to survive the trials that they face in the next few years is a necessity. If we determine that this is what we should do first, then we will put our efforts in this direction. The eco-village concept may be developed along the way. I will update with more information when I return at the end of September.

We've been able to raise half of the funds necessary for this journey. We need to obtain $2000 more to be able to complete this trip. Hopefully by the end of August we will be able to provide non-profit receipts for any donations that we receive. We have an umbrella non-profit corp. that is willing to handle our funds at no cost to our program. We are very thankful for their help and what ever you may find in your heart to donate, to help these children.

If you have a desire to help us in this urgent effort please contact us at 541-474-1815 ask for Willy or leave a message and I'll return your call or contact us with the e-mail address below. As you can tell we truly are in the very beginnings of establishing the World Tribal Home. Any amount of help will be a blessing and will be appreciated!

We will update this web page as often as possible.
Thank you and may all your efforts be blessed.
